Thanks to QMK, the keyboard is fully programmable. It ships with a DFU-style bootloader, which can be programmed over USB.

This is indeed an excellent upgrade. It makes your Model M compatible with the latest connectivity standards. It’s also programmable. Installation is very easy and there is a 3D printed holder replacement. It works with both membrane types - old IBM with three connector and newer Lexmark with two connectors.
Great product! Very easy to install. If using QMK firmware & QMK toolbox to customize, toggle the auto-flash checkbox and plug in the keyboard via USB. The modelH runs the bootloader for a second or two after connecting, so firmware updates are super easy. I may pick up another one for my M 122.
Dropped right into my '94 IBM model F and just worked. I only wish that the model F had a super key...
The Model H USB Controller is excellent. Fits perfectly into the space the old controller occupied and gave new life to my 30+ year old keyboards. They have another 30 years left in them with this upgrade.
Bought 3 of them, 1 of them doesn’t work. The two that do work, work amazing, plug and play with no issues what so ever. Highly recommended. I’m glad to have found a solution.
